Late 60's?

Hey all, sorry I didn't post last week. I was out of town.

Suggested by: Tori suggested I do eras

In this outfit:
  • Green mini dress belonging to Tori. It will be up for sale soon, I believe. She will be selling it online.
  • Tights from Tori as well. She apparently never wore them, so I inherited them.
My thoughts:
  • It's quite short...
  • I was kinda uncomfortable lifting boxes over my head at work...
  • Otherwise it was pretty comfy.
  • I have no idea if this was even 60's ish. What did the 60's look like?
The response:

  • There were quite a few guesses as to what I was.
  • My boss guessed 50's country club.
  • A lady from the office upstairs said 60's go go girl (good guess! although originally she just thought it was because of the Seahawks).
  • Multiple guys from the office said I reminded them of Scooby Doo.
  • Coworker V was not impressed (but he's never impressed, so oh well).
  • A guy upstairs said he thought I was a leprechaun until he saw the tights, then he thought Peter Pan.
  • A friend on Facebook said retro Peter Pan as well
  • One person said I looked like a giant neon shamrock.
  • The lady down the hall loved the tights.

New Haircut

Sorry for the lack of posts, guys. I both have a horrible memory, and no self discipline whatsoever.

This item from my wardrobe isn't really something from my wardrobe. Well, it sorta is. My hair counts, right?

I cut my hair recently.

I went in for a trim, and then got to talking hairstyles with my grandma, and everything just kinda snowballed. It's pretty short now! I was lucky enough to be able to donate to locks of love as well, which takes hair (it must be at least a certain length) and makes wigs for people going through chemo.

It took some getting used to, and I wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but it has grown on me. Probably literally, I guess. It is hair, after all.

Besides, now I can look like Snow White if I want to.

Steampunk

Suggested by: Miriam

In this outfit:
  • Black boots from Goodwill (they are a little too big, but I got them for a costume a while back).
  • The brown vest is reversible, and I got it at a yard sale.
  • The white shirt I got in the men's section of a department store.
  • The hat I got from Amazon.com
  • The goggles are actually two solo cups and a whole bunch of other random materials that my brother put together. The goggles actually belong to him.
  • The armband belongs to my brother as well. He wore a steampunk outfit he made to Emerald City Comic Con.
  • I'm pretty sure I got the tie from my friend Amber, but I'm not positive.
My thoughts:
  • Nice and comfy.
  • These pants are a little to small.
  • The boots are slightly too big.
  • Ok. It's fairly comfy.
  • I like the way it looks, but I put this together so last minute, I wish I could have added more steampunk elements.
The response:

  • Coworker G was very confused about what my style was. He asked me if my outfit was from something.
  • Yet another coworker commented that my wardrobe must be enormous. I think this is the third person to say this.
  • Coworker C said he really liked the goggles.
  • Coworker V: "You remind me of Inspector Gadget"

1950s (Poodle Skirt)

Eras Suggested by: Tori

In this outfit:
  • Poodle skirt from my grandmother. My aunt's mother made it for her, but it never fit her, so I ended up with it.
  • I got the crenelin (underskirt) from an antique shop, and then my mom kinda remade part of it for me.
  • My mom made the shirt.
  • The belt belonged to my mom.
  • The shoes, socks and scarf all belong to my mom. She let me borrow them.
My thoughts:
  • I really like circle skirts. They make my waist look so small, and they make it fun to spin around.
  • Bright red lipstick is fantastic, and now everyone definitely knows which mug I used last Friday.
  • It's a fun outfit :)
The response:
  • Coworker G: "Cute!"
  • Coworker M: "You're going to need a walk in closet someday"
  • Coworker SK: "You've even got the shoes!" *starts pretending to dance*
  • Coworker SK after a little bit: "Laverne and Shirley!" *discussion starts over which one I look like. I'm completely confused because I have never met either of these people*
  • The food guy (who does theater) was so excited about the poodle shirt.
  • From the department down the hall that loves this style challenge I'm doing- "You're like Halloween every Friday!"

Gothic

Suggested by: Coworker S

In this outfit:
  • Lace shirt from a thrift store
  • Floor-length dress from a thrift store
  • Belt from my mom
  • Knee-high boots from a thrift store
  • Lots o' makeup
My thoughts:
  • I love the gothic style in general, it's a bit like "I'm a vampire"
  • This was fairly comfy
  • the eyeliner I own sucks!
  • my makeup was pretty awesome though, I did a gradient on my lips :)
  • I would like to own a black corset.
The response:

  • The department that loves all the outfits loved this one as well. They were also very interested in how I did my lipstick.
  • Coworker G kept saying the name of a character that I looked like whenever he walked past me.
  • Coworker C said "Very Gothic! Very... Anti-Elsa." and also "You know who you remind me of? Wednesday Addams."
  • Coworker S and I had a good laugh imagining me driving around in my sparkly blue Honda Fit with the Gothic getup on.
